Our GP registrars are encouraged to take on long-term problems which are presented by the patient to them, in association with the patient's own doctor.

Practice Manager

Job Summary
Bugbrooke Medical Practice is a well-respected and established GP surgery providing primary care services to approximately 10,900 patients. The surgery is a rural practice located in the village of Bugbrooke.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Practice Manager due to our current manager moving onto a new post. The partners are looking for an exceptional leader with strong management skills, particularly in managing staff, HR, public relations and strategic planning. They will work alongside the Business Manager in project management and financial planning and budgeting.
The practice values high clinical standards and aims for an excellent patient experience.
Main Duties
We are looking for a confident and resilient individual with excellent communication skills. It is essential that the new manager ensures that the practice continues to run smoothly and works closely with the PCN.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work collaboratively with the partners, as a group and individually, to develop and implement strategies. They will also be required to lead a wider practice team, including, Nurses, HCA’s, administrators and reception staff.

Previous Primary Care management experience is essential for this role and the successful candidate will have to demonstrate transferable skills and knowledge.

About us.
There are 4 partners, supported by a surgery team made up of salaried GP’s, ANP’s, Practice Nurses and HCA’s. Additional support is also given by a team of skilled Administrators and Receptionists.
Bugbrooke Medical Practice also provides training for GP Registrars, foundation year doctors and medical students.
The practice is part of the Blue PCN made up of 7 local GP surgeries that work together with the aim of improving healthcare for the community and reducing healthcare inequalities.
The practice is also involved in Research and the benefits associated with this for future patient care.
The health and wellbeing of staff and patients is always main priority.

Job Responsibilities
The Practice Manager is responsible for:
a) The management of all clinical and administrative staff
b) Overseeing the day to day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities.
c) Assisting the recruitment and retention of staff, develop, implement and embed an effective succession plan
d) Developing, implementing and embedding staff appraisals
e) Implementing effective systems for the resolution of disciplinary and grievance issues
f) Maintaining an effective overview of HR legislation
g) Liaise with the Business Manager regarding practice finances and have an overall understanding of practice income and expenditure
h) Coordinating the reviewing and updating of all practice policies and procedures
i) Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.
j) Coordinating and leading the compilation of practice reports and the practice development plan (PDP)
k) Ensuring the team reach QOF targets
l) Contribute to the practice strategy, formulate objectives and research and develop ideas for future practice development.
m) Adopting a strategic approach to the management of all patient services matters
n) Developing, implementing and embedding an effective communication strategy (internal and external)
o) Ensuring the practice maintains compliance with its NHS contractual obligations
p) Actively encouraging and promoting the use of patient online services
q) Liaising at external meetings as required
r) Marketing the practice appropriately
s) Leading the management of the PPG
t) Leading the management of written complaints
u) Work with the business manager in the management of the premises, including Health and safety aspects such as risk assessments and mandatory training
v) Ensuring all staff have the appropriate level of training to enable them to carry out their individual roles and responsibilities
w) Oversee the maintenance of the practice website and social media platforms
x) Represent the practice on the PCN board with the PCN Partner
y) Deputise for Partners at internal and external meetings
z) Act as the primary point of contact for NHSE, CCG, Community Services, suppliers and other external stakeholders.

Salary
£35,000 - £45,000 Dependant on Experience
